Your Life Is God’s Deal

Good evening, my dear brothers and sisters in Christ. As you know, the situation in our country is far from peaceful. Scrolling through my social media feeds, I find myself struggling not to exercise my “power of thumb” — that urge to comment, react, and add my voice to the endless debates and discussions. But thank God, I’m currently learning about taming our advice monster, embracing the power of strategic silence, and asking better questions instead of rushing to judgment.

Today, despite my concerns about venturing out given the current climate, I decided to go to church. And what a blessing that decision proved to be! Pastor Alvi Radjagukguk shared this deeply assuring quote: “When our life is about His will, then our life will be His deal.” The sermon that followed was about Paul’s treacherous journeys — those dangerous paths he walked in service to the Gospel.

So instead of exercising my power of thumb to comment on political situations, which would only add more noise to an already chaotic and heated situation, let me use it for something far better: to remind you of the assurance we have for our lives through our Lord Jesus Christ.

When Pastor Alvi Radjagukguk said, “When our life is about His will, then our life will be His deal,” he captured a profound truth that can transform how we navigate uncertain times. What does it mean for our life to be “God’s deal”? It means that when we align ourselves with His purposes, He takes responsibility for our protection, provision, and ultimate destination.

Think about Paul’s journeys that were mentioned in today’s sermon. Shipwrecks, beatings, imprisonment, rejection — by human standards, these hardly looked like the life of someone under divine protection. Yet Paul understood something crucial: his life wasn’t his own to manage or worry about. It was God’s deal, God’s responsibility, God’s masterpiece in progress.

The Bible is filled with assurances of God’s care for those whose lives are surrendered to His will:

Jeremiah 29:11 — “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, to give you hope and a future.”

This isn’t just a feel-good promise; it’s God’s covenant with those who trust Him. When our lives become His deal, He commits to a good outcome — not necessarily an easy journey, but a meaningful and ultimately victorious one.

Psalm 121:7-8 — “The Lord will keep you from all harm — he will watch over your life. The Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.”

Notice the comprehensive nature of God’s protection: “all harm,” “your life,” “coming and going,” “now and forevermore.” When God makes a deal, He covers all the details.

Romans 8:28 — “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

Even when circumstances seem chaotic — like our current national situation — God is working. When our life is His deal, He takes responsibility for weaving even the difficult threads into something beautiful.

1 Peter 5:7 — “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”

This verse reveals the heart behind the deal: God cares. It’s not a business transaction; it’s a relationship rooted in love. And because of this love, we can move from paralyzing fear to purposeful action, even in the midst of terrifying political tensions.

Let’s be honest — the fear is real. The confusion is real. The political tensions we’re witnessing are genuinely terrifying. When we see polarization, threats of violence, economic uncertainty, and social unrest, our human hearts naturally respond with anxiety. God doesn’t expect us to pretend these feelings don’t exist. Even Jesus felt troubled in His spirit (John 12:27). The key is not letting these overwhelming emotions drive our decisions or steal our peace.

Historical Evidence of God’s Faithfulness

Throughout history, we see undeniable proof that God preserves His people through impossible circumstances:

• The Israelites survived 400 years of slavery and emerged as a nation
• Daniel’s friends walked out of the fiery furnace unharmed
• The early church thrived under Roman persecution
• Christians have survived wars, famines, dictatorships, and social upheaval across centuries
• Even in Indonesia’s own history, the church has endured and grown through political transitions, economic crises, and social tensions

God’s track record is perfect. Not one of His promises has ever failed.

Practical Steps for Current Situations

1. Filter Your Information Diet:

• Limit social media consumption to specific times, not endless scrolling
• Choose reliable news sources over sensational content
• Remember: staying informed is wise, staying overwhelmed is unproductive

2. Practice Strategic Silence:

• Before posting or commenting on political content, ask: “Will this bring peace or add to the chaos?”
• Choose private prayer over public debate when emotions run high
• Let your life be your strongest political statement, not your online arguments

3. Anchor Yourself in God’s Sovereignty:

• “God knew about this political crisis before I was born, and He already has a plan”
• “My security comes from Heaven’s government, not earthly politics”
• “I can vote, pray, and serve — but God controls the outcomes”

4. Create Intentional Spaces of Peace:

• Start each morning with prayer before checking news
• End each day by listing three things God protected or provided that day
• Gather with fellow believers for worship and encouragement, not political discussions

5. Choose Love Over Fear in Daily Interactions:

• Treat people with opposing political views as neighbors to love, not enemies to defeat
• Practice kindness with service workers, neighbors, and even those who disagree with you politically
• Remember: your testimony of Christ’s love may be the only hope someone sees today

When we live according to His will, we can rest assured that He will handle the outcomes. Our job isn’t to manage every political crisis or fix every problem we see on social media. Our job is to surrender our lives to His purposes, trust Him with the results, and be His hands and feet of love in a fearful world.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for making our lives become Your deal. Help us to resist the urge to control outcomes or add unnecessary noise to an already chaotic world. Guard our mouths and thumbs from unwholesome words, and let our words be only what builds others up and benefits those who hear us. We place our lives, our country, and our concerns into Your capable hands, knowing that You work all things together for the good of those who love You.

Lord, we specifically pray for peace in Indonesia. Bring healing to our nation, wisdom to our leaders, and unity among our people. We ask for Your divine protection over all our brothers and sisters throughout this land — shield them from harm, guard their families, and surround them with Your angels. May Your peace that surpasses all understanding reign in every heart and every home across our beloved country. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

May you rest tonight in the assurance that your life is God’s deal, and He never breaks His promises.
