The headlines keep asking the same question: Is World War III coming? Between 40-63% of people globally expect a major conflict involving superpowers within the next decade. But there’s a spiritual war raging that predates every territorial dispute, every trade conflict, every geopolitical tension. While nations position for advantage, this ancient war has already claimed every single casualty. It’s been raging since Eden, and unlike the wars dominating headlines, this one has a perfect record: 100% fatality rate.

We need to talk about this war. The war where no one wins.

The war against sin and death.

Sin and death aren’t theological abstractions—they’re occupying forces. Sin corrupts every motive, taints every achievement, poisons every relationship. Death mocks every plan, nullifies every legacy, waits at the end of every road. And here’s what we don’t want to admit: we can’t defeat either one.

You know this already. You’ve felt it in the pattern you swore you’d break this time. In the good thing you did that still carried the scent of self-interest. Paul names it without flinching: “The longings to do what is right are within me, but willpower is not enough to accomplish it. My lofty desires to do what is good are dashed when I do the things I want to avoid.”

This is the human condition. A war where the enemy is woven into your own nature. Every weapon you pick up is already compromised.

We’ve tried everything. Religious systems promising victory through discipline. Moral frameworks offering righteousness through effort. Self-optimization strategies. Positive thinking. Better boundaries. Stronger accountability. But sin doesn’t respond to self-help, and death doesn’t negotiate with human potential.

The scoreboard tells the story: 100% casualty rate. Zero victories. Every warrior conscripted into this war has fallen. Every general has surrendered. Every kingdom built to resist death has crumbled into dust.

This is the war we inherited. The unwinnable war. The battle where human strength, wisdom, and goodness aren’t just insufficient—they’re disqualified before the fight even starts.

So when every human warrior was disqualified from birth, what did God do?
